Audio quality can be easily improved thanks to the external microphone (optional), which can be added to the integrated microphone greatly increasing sound effects. With this microphone - using CAN + external power connection - SmartyCam can work just in stand alone mode + internal power.

It allows SmartyCam to connect via CAN to an ECU Bridge or to an AIM logger and to record audio coming from any custom external microphone connected to the cable female jack connector.
